Flat Screen - Plasma vs. LCD

The term "flat screen" is used interchangeably between Plasma and LCD. However, both the technologies and usage are vastly different.

Plasma Display   Due to the cost of producing a plasma display panel (PDP), you will rarely see one smaller than about 32 inches. Smaller size would tend to favor LCD. PDP's generate their own "internal light" and do not use lamps. PDP's generate the normal colors used for TV and Video.

Liquid Crystal Display   LCD's in larger than about 15-17 inches do not display a very good TV video picture. They lend themselves to more of a graphics or computer source.

Both technologies are changing rapidly with many of the drawbacks between the two being reduced or eliminated.
