CODING OF MOVING PICTURES AND AUDIO

The acronym MPEG stands for the Moving Picture Experts Group which is a working group of ISO/IEC in charge of the development of standards for coded representation of digital audio and video. MPEG was established in 1988.

Many times while reading these standards you will see terms such as bitrate, client, server, etc. Remember, much of this is inside an IC chip or a software application either on a PC or chip inside a product.
