I was told by a salesman that all
Laser Disk Players
will play CDs and DVDs.
Is this true ? NO!
Most LDV and DVD players will play CDs but to
play
DVDs they have to be designed to play them in addition to LDV and CD.
There are
combination LDV/DVD players available.
My receiver (amplifier) blew a fuse. I
changed it and
it blew again. What's
wrong? Could be a couple of things
wrong. It could be a shorted diode in
your power supply, or more probably a shorted
audio output IC or
transistor. New power supplies may not be isolated from the primary AC
line and many times when the fuse blows a charge will be held indefinitely
on one side of
the fuse holder. You can receive a severe shock from this.
My receiver (amplifier) had one (or
both) channels go out. The shop said it needs about a dozen parts replaced. I think
I am being taken. Am I ?
Probably not. When an final output goes out, in
audio, there is usually a cascade failure where several go out at the same time.
Especially if it uses discreet components instead of one-big-chip.
I have a friend who insists that gold
plated connectors and expensive braided speaker cables will improve my audio beyond
all measure. But when I listen to his system, it doesn't sound any better-or at least I
can't here a difference. Is he right? You just
answered your own question. A difference that makes no difference, is no
difference. The Gold plated whatever's and high dollar per-foot speaker wires can and will
make a cleaner audio signal. But, unless you have the ears of a bat, you cannot hear a
difference. This is just marketing hype so you will pay big bucks for bragging rights.
Save your money. A good set of speakers is a better investment.
